NORTH ISLAND v. NEW SOUTH WALES. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION). Weilincon, February 19. The innings of New South Wales closed for 220, the highest score being 38, made in very merry fashion by Cowley, who hit four fours running. The bowling did not appear difficult. J Mills, of Hawera, met with little success till he went on against the wind when the wickets fell to him quickly, he taking seveu wickets for 70. McDonough, from whom something was expected, got only one for 40. Upon the home team going in Cross hit up 22 in twenty minutes, being missed twice before Austin bowled hini. Mills, of Aneklaml, who ivenfc in with him was .still not out after batting an hour and forty minutes for 26. Holdship, McDonough and Blacklock were bowled, the score being 70 for four wickets ; Lusk, not out, 3. The remaining men will have all they can do to save a follow-on on the imperfect wicket, especially if rain comes, of which there appears a likelihood. This Day. I At luncheon adjournment North Island had lost 6 wickets for 121, Lusk 89, J. Mills, not out, 38.
