Rifle Association Meeting.

(PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION ). Wellington, February 14. Major Soinmerville had an interview with the Defence Minister to-day in connection with the scareiiy of Martini ammunition and said injury was likely to ensue to the New Zealand Eiae Association owing to the members being unable to get ammunition with which to practice. He also pointed out that unless active steps were at once taken to ensure a supply from sister colonies there would be no ammunition for the annual shooting competition, which opens in Christchurch on March Ist. Mr Seddon promised to at once cable to Mcl bourne for a sufficient supply, and this will be landed in Lyttelton in time for the meeting. Provision is also to be made to allow, from the stock in hand, clubs, &c, which intend competing at the meeting, a few hundred i rounds for the purposes of practice j Major Sommerville left for Christchurch this afternoon.
