Colonial Butter Trade.
_ . (PKB PRESS ASSOCIATION.) London, February 13 The deputation which waited on Mr R. Reid, the Victorian delegate, couceruing the buttor trade, explained that the desiro was that sufficient butter producers should combine in the colonies to control the London markets, confining the shipments to a committee consisting of their selected London agents and colonial nominees. Mr Roid, in reply, admitted that wide consignments, especially to financially weak houses, was detrimental to the producers, and expressed sympathy with the proposed scheme. He suggested chat the butter should be deposited in cool stores in return for negotiable certificates, in order to prevent forced sales. He said it Mas impossible for the Government to recommend curtain firms in London which I would transact business with the producers. Sir \V. 13. Perceval afterwards assured the deputation that he agreed in the main with Mr Reid's suggestions, and that he considered them worth)' of a trial as an experiment.
