The Loss of the Gazelle.

(PEB PBBSB ASSOCIATION.) Nelson, February 5. The bodies of Capt. Rogers and three seamen named Anderson, Olsen, and Tonny have been washed ashore. The bodies of the mate, Albert Viking, and two seamen known only as George and Andy, and the cook and steward, whose names are unknown, have not yet been recovered. The Gazelle sighted land on Friday night. A heavy gale was blowing, and all sails were blown out of the bolt ropes except the flying jib. The exact position of the vessel was not known, and every effort was made to keep her off the land. On Saturday morning the land appeared all round. The sea was very high, and a little later she struck agasnst a high bluff. Quintal says he jumped overboard to escape the faffing spars. Davidson was uncoptoious when found on the beach by a settler named Wells. He was much bruised. The bodies will be brought to Nelson. None of the men apparently were married. The vessel must have come through the Beef Barrel rocks, where, had she struck, not a soul could have been saved. The inquest on the four bodies washed ashore from the wreck threw a little further light on the casualty. It appears Capt. Rogers knew he was in Blind Bay, but did not know the precise position. The evidence showed the vessel was well equipped, and that an anchor was" let go just N bef ore she struck. A verdict of accidentally drowned was returned. -,
