A congregational meeting ot the Presbyterian Church was held in Awahuri on Monday evening, the sth instant, to elect a new committee of managers, etc. The meeting was fairly well attended, and the following gentlemen were elected: — Messrs J. Nairn senr., Geo. Nye, G. Lucas, A. Campbell, — Drummond, G. Wheeler, and Joseph Bennett. Mr Andrew Campbell was chosen as treasurer, and Mr George Nye as secretary. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Miss Laura Bennett for playing the organ in the church. The following business was transacted by the new committee, the Rev. Mr Thompson being chairman : Resolved, That Mr Andrew be paid monthly. Resolved, That Divine service be held each Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., and also fortnightly evening services at 7 p.m. Resolved, That a tea meeting be held in the public school about the middle of March. In connection with the above, the Rev. Mr Andrew, assistant to the Rev. Wm. Thompson, is taking Awahuri and Bunnythorpe as outstations, Mr Thompson's time being wholly taken up with church work in Paltnei-stou. It will be seen that a strong committee has been formed, and it is hoped that every effort will be made to aid Mr Andrew in his work.
