(PEB FBEBS ASSOCIATION.} CiißisxciiUßCH, February 2. A young farmer named llobcrt Edwards, aged 25, unmarried, was found dead near Kaiapoi this morning with a ! gunshot wound in his head. He had been suffering from influenza, and complained of pains in his head. He took a gun from the house with the intention of shooting swamp-hens, as the day was too wet for harvesting. When 100 yards from the house a shot was heard, and on a child proceeding to the spot, he found Edwards lying on his back near a lagoon. Death must have been instantaneous. Wellington, This Day. Marion Allan, aged 24, a domestic servant, attempted suicide this morning by drinking spirits of salts. She left a letter intimating her intention to take her life. She is not expected to recover.
