Walsh's store and contents are insured in the Commercial Union for £175. Edgar, at present Registrar of the Native Land Court here, is to be appointed Judge of the Native Land Court. New offices for the Public Trust Office are to be erected in the grounds adjoining the Government Buildings, and will face the Supreme Court. The city surveyor has drawn the Connoil's attention to the enormous consumption of water within the city. The quantity used for all purposes, exclusive of electric lighting, is five million gals, in 24 hour?, or an average ot over 150 gals, per head of the population. He said that unless this undue consumption is checked it would soon be necessary to incur very largo expenditure to increase the water supply. The council will consider the best method by which the waste may be checked. Mr W. S. L. Travers succeeds the late Lostalot de Bachone as vice-Consul for France in New Zealand.
