Ram Fair at Palmerston.

The annual ram fair at Palmerston was continued on the Show grounds yesterday. The attendance was not so larjje as on the previous day, and bidding was again somewhat slow, though fair prices were realised for the best quality sheep. During Thursday afternoon and yesterday morning a large number of rams were disposed of privately. Messrs Abraham and Williams. Offered on account of the trustees of Heaton Park estate — 20 2-tooth Lincolns. Seventeen sold at prices ranging from one to two guineas. The buyers were Messrs Quirk, Morrison, and Masters. Offered on account of Mr R. Oobb — Seven 2-tooth Rouiueys ; five sold ; total £16 10s 6d ; average price £3 6d Id ; highest price 4 guineas ; Mr Rowe. The other purchasers were Messrs Johnston, Pine, and Capt Hewitt. Offered on account of Mr G. Wheeler, Halcombe — Eight 2-tooth Romneys. One sold to Mr Pine and another to Mr Johnston for 4 guineas each. Offered on account of Mr W, Rathbone, Waipawa — Eighteen 2-tooth Lincolns ; 7 sold ; total £29 Iss 9d ; average price ,£4 ">s ; highest price £f) 5s ; Mr Barrow. The other purchasers were Messrs Kilgour, Aiken, and Coombs. Sold on account of Mr \V. Knight — Nine ?-tooth Romneys at 1| guineas each to Mr R. Stevens. On account of Mr R. Tanner, six 4 and 6-tooth Romneys. Total £19 5s 3d ; average price, £3 4s 2d ; highest price, £4 4s ; Messrs Burke, Wilkes, and Harding purchasing at that figure. On account ot Mr Quirk, eight 2tooth Romneys at prices ranging from 2 to 2£ guineas, the average being 2^ J guineas. Messrs McQhail, Robbie, and Ransfield were the purchasers. Mr M. Hknry. On account of Mr Akers — Fifteen 2-tooth Romneys. Four sold at prices ranging from 2] to 2£ guineas. Messrs Pine and Dicken were the purchasers. At the first day's sale, Mr Charles Carr sold : — Lincolns— On behalf of Mr W. R. Wilson : 38 offered ; 22 sold, at an aggregate price of 79^gs. Buyers — Mr J. Cotter, one at 6[gs, two at 3Jgs, and 7 at 3}gs ; Mr Caldwell, one at4i}gs; oue at 4}gs, one at 3j-gs, one at 3£gs, aud two at '<i\gH ; Mr Tattersal, ten at y^gs, two at 2jfgs; Mr Liuton, two at 3igs.
