Bam Fair.
The annual ram fair under the auspices of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association was held , yesterday The attendance was fairly good, but the number of buyers, as , compared with former years, was limited. At no time during the sale was competition brisk, although the ! quality of the sheep was fully up to the standard of last year ; indeed, as a whole, the rams were throughout of \ first-class quality. There was a ! limited demand for Romneys and ' Lincolns, and the best of those penned \ brought fair prices, but for Border Leicesters, which are just being introduced into the district, the bidding was slow, despite the fact being emphasized as to their being the cla-as for producing early lambs. FoUowing are the results : — Mr M. Henry. On account of Mr D. Buick— 9 2-tooth Romneys bred by Mr R. Cobb from stud ewes. All sold ; total 13} gns ; highest price lj gns. Mr Pudney. Messrs Abraham and Williams. Offered on account of Mr Rathbone — 12 2-tooth stud Lincolns ; 10 sold ; total 77} gns ; average price £7 14s 6d ; highest price 13} gus. Mr Stewart. The other buyers were Messrs Wilson, Skerman, Waldegrave, A. S. Baker, and Morrison. On acoount of Mrs Watt, Lily Bank— • 15 2-tooth Lincolns. All sold ; total 29} gns ; average price, £1 19s ; highest price, 2d gus ; Mr Hastings. The other purchasers were Messrs Welch, Guirk, Rankin, Jensen, Engels, Cameron, and Campbell. On account of Mr R. Cobb— 2o 2-tooth Romneys; 18 sold; total £64 15s 3d; average price, £2 lis sd ; highest price, 4} gns ; Mr Burk. The other purchasers were Messrs Rowe, Davies, Johnston, Harrison, and Pine. On account of Mr J. Raynor — 15 2tooth Lincolns ; 14 sold ; total £68 15s 3d ; average price £4 lis ; highest price 7 gns. Mr Fountain. The other purchasers were Messrs Skerman, Saxon, Collie, A. S. Baker, Morrison, Aldrich, aud Clarke. On account of Mr R. 0. Carey, 10 2tooth Lincolns. — All sold at from 1 to 2^ guineas, the average being lj guineas. Messrs Cornelius and Quirk were the buyers. On account of Messrs Conrad Bros., Karere, 20 2«tooth Romneys. — All sold to Mr T. R. Caah, Marton. for I£. gns each. On account of Mr J. Kebbell, Ohau, 20 2-tooth Romneys. — All sold from 1 to H gns, the average being lj gns. Buyers --Messrs Potts, Ransfield, Newman and Walker. On account of Mr G. Wheeler, Halcombe, 15 2-tooth Romneys.— Twelve sold at from 4 to 43 gns, the average being slightly under 4} gns. BuyersMessrs Stiil, Newman and Pyne. On account of Mr W. Rathbone, "Waipawa, 20 2-tooth Lincolns. — Eleven sold at from 4 to 4J gns, the average being under 4} gns. Buyers— Messrs Barrow, Kidd, Kilgour, Hedges and Waldegrave. _.„„/j~..;i
