Waituna Notes.

— ♦ . fFBOM OVA OWN COBBB3PONDBNT.I The Wesleyans of the Rangitikei Circuit give services in the Cosmopolitan Church, at Beaconsfield, twice each month, and they decided to hold a bazaar there on the afternoons of Wednesday and Thursday last, winding up each evening with a magic lantern entertainment. The affair on the whole was fairly successful, and the funds of the church augmented. A cricket club, consisting of fifty members has been formed, to be known as the Waituna West Cricket Club. Mr H. J. Shannon has been chosen Captain, and Mr W. F. England hon. secretary and treasurer. Mr J. Williamson has been elected President of the club, and Messrs Wilson and Northcott, Vice-presidents. MrNbrthcott has kindly granted the use of his paddock in which to practice. We understand that there are some crack players in the club. Mr H. J. Shannon has consented to be nominated as a member for the Ongo riding of the Kiwitea County, so you see we believe in having competition here if the other ridings do not. Mr Powell, the late member of the nearly defunct Kiwitea Board, I believe, has also been nominated. I don't hear of any person contesting the seat with the late chairman, Mr Williamson. Most of the settlers around here have saved their hay in very good order. The whole of the bush on the School Reserve, at Waituna, is felled, and I awaits a favorable time for burning. Then comes the " tug-of-war " to get the school erected. The Education Board has the chronic complaint of being as the darkee says "short ob cash, which is ob all de woost chest complaints you can suffer froju." Mr Guylee, I hear, intends to stand as a member of the Wanganui Edu» cation Board. I see Mr Wilks, an ex-teacher, has been nominated by the Feilding committee. I presume Mr Guylee, who is also an ex-teacher, will be nominated by the Waituna West committee.
