Rangiwahia Notes.

The township has a go- a head appearance just now, there being three shops iu course of erection — viz, one for Mr Franklin-Browne, one for Mr McKerran, and the third for Messrs Hickford Brothers. Pemberton was played on the ground of the latter, on Saturday. The weather was all that could be desired, and the attendance was very good. Birmingham won the match somewhat easily. The visitors were entertained at dinner at Mr Mcllroy's Pemberton Hotel. The same evening a meeting was held in the Hotel of persons interested in the establishment of sports at Rangiwalua. A considerable number of persons attended. Mr T. Hammond was voted to the chair. After the subject had been discussed for some little time the following appointments were made, Messrs T. Hammond and McGregor to be judges of the Hunters' Handicap. Messrs Pemberton, Roscoe, | and I. Stent as judges, Mr Mcllroy secretary and treasurer. Working committee, Messrs Rule, Daw, Bielski, Peniberton, Harris, W. Pilchard, S. J. Thompson, Lay, Windleburn, Millward, J. Martin, Kerr, and P. Martin. It was resolved that the sports be held on March 17th in the Rangiwahia clearing. A vote of thanks to the chairman closed the proceedings. The people here are delighted to know that it is the intention of the Feilding Brass Band to hold their annual picnic at Rangiwahia. Mr Daw, the bandmaster, will run the members up in his coach. The event will take place some time in February,
