Eventually the Matabclo, who overwhelmed the British in numbers, made a rushing attack, and using their assegais with deadly HlVet, killed all the detachment. Captain Wilson's force consisted of Captains Fitzgerald, .ludd, Greenfield, Kirton.and Harrow, Lieutenants Hughes and Hepmeyer, Sergeants Harding, Browning, Brad burn, and Bradley, Corporals King and Colquhoun, Troopers Welby (2), Robertson, Hallet, Dillon, Money, Yogel (sou of Sir J. Yogel), Lewis, Da voi, ■Watson, Brock, Brittou, Batt, Muim, Thomson, Abbott, and McKeuzie.
