The Coinage Committee of the House have reported in favour of the Bland Bill, providing for the issue of silver certificates on the seignorage of bullion in Treasury amounting to 55,000,000 dollars, and rapid coinage of bullion certificates lined to pay current debts. It is probable that the income tax proposals will be abandoned in order to save the remainder of the Tariff Bill. Zanzibar, January 15. Heavy fightiug has taken place in Nyassaland between the British and natives, and Commissioner Johnston has inflicted a severe defeat on the slave chief, Makanjiru.
