FATAL DYNAMITE EXPLOSION.
DISASTROUS STORMS. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Sn>NKY, January 5 Two miners were blown to pieces in a mine at Fernmouut owing to the accidental explosion of dynamite. This Da.j . The storms experienced in the Wagga Wogga district are the heaviest for twenty years past. Nearly three inches of rain fell in 45 minutes. Considerable damage was done to standing crops. Mr Streeters, a well known London diamond merchant, is at present on a visit to the colony. He is understood to be making enquiries with regard to the Pingera diamonds. The Government intend to press on the Bank Notes issue Bill when Parliament meets. The President of the Bendigo Branch of the Federation League, who is at present on a. visit to Sydney, says his branch has prepared a Bill based on the result of the deliberation at the Corowa Conference. It provides that Parliament in each colony shall legislate to create ten electoral districts returning one member each on the single vote principal as representatives to a congress, which will frame a constitution if the two colonies should adopt a constitution. The Bill provides for referring the matter to the electors for a final decision. The expenses of the congress are to be borne by each colony in equal proportions.
