«. [fbom oub own correspondent.] The usual fortnightly meeting of the U.A.O.D. Lodge Mountaineers 308 was held in the Druid's Lodge room on Tuesday evening last. The business of the meeting was the election and installation of officers for the ensuing term, but, owing to the absence of the Installing Officer, the election only took place. It was resolved that the District Grand President be invited to undertake tbe installation at the next fortnightly meeting. The following officers were elected : — A D., Bro. Ashton ; V. AT.D., Bro. W. Bell ; secretary, Bro. Sandeman ; treasurer, Bro. D. Mcßeth ; LG-.; Bro. E. Byrne ; 0.G., Bro. J. Johnson ; V. A.D. B.s, Bros. Taylor and Barlow. The children in connection with the Wesleyan Sunday School hold their anniversary services on Sunday, the 21st instant, wben Mr George Grant, of Palmerston, will preach. The training of the children's vocal powers has been for some time past in the able hands of Mr Anyon and Miss Lowes, who have brought tbem forward to a state of perfection. On the Wednesday following a picnic will be held which will be followed by a concert in the evening, wben a library will be opened in connection with the Sunday School. Mr W. MacNaughton, an old and respected settler here, passed away on Saturday evening last, at the ripe age of seventy three. The funeral was largely attended, the service at the grave being impressively conducted by Mr A. Fergusson. Fhe Rev. Father Patterson, of Palmerston, arrived here on Tuesday last, and is the guest of Mr P. j Murphy. His visit is for the purpose of visiting his people and holding mass.
