The Lady Mayor and the Onehunga Council.

[Per Press Association] Auckland, December 28. At a special meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council, held for the purpose of electing a town clerk, the Mayor, Mrs Yates, before the business was proceeded with, took exception to the presence of Messrs Bowe and Hill, who had resigned their seats. These gentlemen thereupon stated that they would remain in office until such time as their successors were appointed. The Mayor replied that she ruled differently, and would not allow any business to be transacted while those gentlemen remained to vote. The council adjourned till January Bth, "by which time the successors of Messrs Bowe and Hill will be appointed.
