(PER PHKBB ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, December 28. Kopata te Ao has been elected to represent the Western Mron District, The local 'cyclist, J. Selby, left Newtown, Auckland, at 430 o'clock this morning and arrived at the Royal Hotel, Hamilton, at 1.40 p.m., having spent 9 hours 11 minutes on the journey. This is 31 minutes fas'er than last year:} time. Hastings, December 28. The Manawatu Polo Club defeated the Hawke's Bay team to«day at Hastings by eleven to nil. Wellington, December 28. The Coptic left Bio for London on the 25th inst. The railway communication between Wellington and Napier, which was dis* connected by the recent floods m Hawke's Bay, was restored to-day. This Day, Arrived— Riinutaka, from London, via the Cape and Hobart, early this morning. She left on November 11, and had an uneventful passage. The most severe westerly gales experienced for years are raging along the coast and inland. The weather is bitterly cold, and snow is falling on the Blue Mountains and other parts of the country.
