Stock Markets.
Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co. report — We held a small sale at the St. Hill street yards, the Christmas holidays preventing any movement of stock. We had a full- yard at Waverley, and prices were well maintained for cattle and yoimg sheep, old sheep being unsaleable. Pigs sell at full rates. We quote : Cattle — At Waverley — Fat and forward bullocks, £6 ss ; steers, £5 2s 6d ; heifers in calf, £4 9s to £4 10s ; young cattle, £2 7s to £2 19s ; milch cows, £5 to £6. At St. Hill street — Fat light cows, £4 2s 6d to £4 7s 6d ; steers, £4 ls to to £4 10s; young steers, £2 17s 6d; cows and calves, £4 4s ; Heaton Park bulls, £7 7s to £10 2s 6d. Sheep— At Waverley — Shorn hoggets, 7s 6d to 9s ; store wethers, 9s 3d ; fat wethers, 10s 3d ; fat ewes, 8s to 8s 9d. At St Hill street— Fat ewes, 10s to 10s 6d ; small wethers, 9s ld; store ewes, 5s 6d. Pigs — At Waverley-— Small porkers, 14s to 17s. None came forward at Wanganui. i Poultry. — We sold over 1400 head at Christmas sales. Fowls 2s 6d to 3s 6d, ducks, 2s 8d to 4s 6d, geese 5s to 6s 6d, and turkeys 7s to 12s the couple.
