Bio dk Janeiro, December 21. An unsuccessful attempt has been made by the Loyalists to retake Governador Island in the harbour. Many of the insurgents were killed in defending the island, while General Belles was wounded. Persistant reports are in circulation that a naval engagement' took place off the coast between warships, those engaged in the encounter being the Acmadaban and Republica belonging to the insurgents, and the Tiradentes and Bahia of the loyalists fleet. The two latter are said to have been captured. ■
