Cricket News.

The cup match Carnarvon v. Birmingham was played at Feilding on Saturday, and resulted in a win for the former by 53 runs on the first innings. Birmingham went first to the wickets and made a poor total of 28, Carnarvon following with a good total of 81. Birmingham, in their second attempt, made a better stand, and declared their innings closed with seven wickets down for 131 runs— Barlow making 69, not out, wiih very free hitting, being missed several times in the field. The Carnarvon men again went in, determined to keep their wickets up till time to draw them, while the Birmingham men did their best to dispose of their opponents before the coveted number of runs were made, or hefore time was called, it being tlieir only chance to win ; but on time being called Carnarvon had only lost seven wickets for 72 runs, leaving the match to be decided as above. Mr Towe, captain -of the Birmingham team, and other cricketers, desire to thank Mr and Mrs Lethbridge for their kindness in supplying afternoon tea for this and other matches when the teamshave played in Feilding.
