The Wool Market.

♦ Messrs W. Weddel and Co., London agents for the United Farmers' Alliance, Ltd., report : — Loitdon, October 26th, 1893. Wool — The fourth series of Colonial wool sales terminated on the 7th inst., having lasted from the 19th ultimo. During that time 199,884 bales were offered (including 72,647 New Zealand), and about 182,000 bales were sold. The tone at the finish was very firm — final quotations for merino greasy being fully up to July rates — while scoureds were from par to 5 per cent deareY. Cross-bi-eds, both fine and medium descriptions, at the close were about £d per lb dearer than at the beginning. The next series of sales will commence on 28th November. On Wednesday the 11th inst, the Wool Importers' Committee decided that next year there should be six series of sales instead of five, as hitherto, the first to commence on tbo 16th January, 1894. This will be particularly beneficial to New Zealand, as there will hot now be such a large quantity of wool from that colony put; on the June-July sales. The arrivals to date for the fifth series amount to 33,000 bales, including 5,000 from New Zealand and 23,000 from Australia.

(PKB PBEBB ABBOCUTION.) Chbistohuboh, Dec. 15. The second of the present season's series of Christchurch wool sales was held to-day. There was a large entry and a good attendance of buyers both • local and foreign. Competition was spirited as compared with last sales. Merinos were £d to Id dearer, long wools, par to £d advance ; cross-bred, from without quotable change ; broken wool?, a shade easier.
