The Matabele War.
LOBENGULA'S CAPTURE DENIED. PERILOUS POSITION OF CAPTAIN WILSON. (PEE PBES3 ASSOCIATION.) Capetown, December 14. The reported capture of King Lbbengula by Major Forbea is premature. A detachment of the latter's forces, under Captain Wilson, overtook Lobengula's waggon, on the banks of the Sliangani river. The natives were in ambuscade and hotly attacked Captain Wilson's men, compelling them to retire, until a sudden rise in the Shangani prevented the junction between the major portion of Major Forbes' troops and Capt Wilson's detachments. The position of the latter is reported to be perilous, and Major Forbe3 is attempting to cross the river to their assistance.
