(PER PRESS A88OCIATION.) Wellington, December 14. The Wellington contribution to the Hawke'u Bay relief fund now amounts to L 563. Tbe Gnzette notifies that the payment of capitation allowance to Education Boards for the quarter ending on 31st day of December, 1893, shall be accord* ing te the working average attendance of the last preceding quarter, as " working average " is denned by Order-in Council, dated the Sth day of July, 1887. The immigration and emigration returns for November show the arrivals to be 2438 and departures 680. The arrivals were from— United Kingdom 630, New South Wales 1158, Victoria 597, Tasmama 80, other places 73. The departures were two— United Kiugdon 94, New South Wales 450, Victoria 135, Tasmania 32, other places 14. The elections of the new members of Parliament are gazetted. Dcjnedin, December 14. At the Police Court to-day, the charges against two publicans of Belling liquor between 11 o'clock and midnight were dismissed, without conviction, the defence put forward being that the licensees did not know the now Act was in force. At Mosgiel a publican was fined 40s and costs for selling liquor to a man named Bremner, who had ceased to lodge in the house. Bremner, tor ro« presenting himself as a traveller at another hotel, was fined 40s and costs. Auckland, December 14. Tho Rev Mr Baker, who is now a resident of tbe Auoklond district, has been interviewed. He says the change in the Tongan Ministry is very popular with both Europeans and Natives.
