Correspondence
THE BUTTERCUP PLANT. TO THIS EDITOR OP TUX STAR Sir,— ln your issuse of the 2nd instant I observe a letter signed Sauil. Goodbehere ridiculing one in your previous issue from Mr A. E. Barton who cautions farmers and others against allowing the " cowslip " to seed. Mr Goodbehero thinks there is no harm in the weed although admitting that it blisters the mouths of cows. From what I can gather, the weed Mr Barton speaks of is not the true •' cowslip " but a bastard kind, and I cannot find that any animal will eat it, and there is no doubt that it is r.ioidly spreading over the country, in fact I have never met with anything that spreads with the same rapidity, and it will soon be a curse to the farmers if owners will not take the trouble to cut it down. I trust that every one will take Mr Barton's warning in time, otherwise I am certain the whole country will be overrun with the pest, I am, etc., H. H. Knowles. Makino, Dec 4th, 1893.
