Fire at Bunny thorpe

On Friday morning the residence belonging -to Mrs Russell was burnt to tiie ground. The house was situated close to the railway. It appears the inmates had retired for some time, when Mrs Russell was awakened by the smell of something burning, and on getting up found the house in flames. Awaking the rest of the sleepers they managed to escape, but so rapidly did the building burn that they all had narrow escapes, and, sad to state, with the exception of a sewing machine, everything was burnt, even to the children's clothing, oesides a sum of money. Messrs Corkery and Serre, neighbours, worked most energetically to save something and rescue the inmates, but the latter was all that could be done. The building and furniture are insuredin the Phoenix Office — Building £50, furniture £'35, Much sympathy is felt for the family. — Standard.
