Icbabod ! the glory of Pobanpina hag departed. We have always sent a Conservative member to Parliament, or rather a Liberal-Conservative member to represent us. You had a good fight in your electorate for the same old cause ; had we been united with you the result might have been different. But our old associations are broken and, alas, our traditional policy too. Hope on, our turn will come again.

In Ashurst, although the place has grown, and in addition the extension of the franchise to women, the number that polled on Tuesday was 100 less than at the last general election. The band stand on the triangle in front ot the Theatre Royal, Ashurst, is now being built. The other triangle opposite the Foresters' Hall is enclosed with a neat fence, the ground levelled, sown with grass, and trees planted. Our town is not laid out on the square, but for all that the townspeople are noted for acting on the square. The ratepayers of Pohangina must be well pleased with their engineer, Mr Hayns, as all the Wardens felt empowered to cast their votes for hia re-appoint-ment when balloted for.

Some dry ewes Mr Barnes, of Pohangina Road, has recently bought have commenced lambing Messes Whibley are also in the same plight. Some presumably dry ewes bought at sale proved to be in lamb, and are now increasing their number. Some say knock them on the head. That would would be a suicidal policy. The ought to thrive well — good weather, plenty of feed and milk.
