The Wanganui Education Board

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board resumed yesterday morning. Pre-sent-Messrs Notman (chairman), Pry, Bridge, Baker, Sanson, Hurley, Beckett, and Carson. Tenders— Tenders for the Waitotara residence and schools at Niknu and Tikorea, the tender of Messrs iloFarlane and Son's being accepted for the former, and Messrs Hubner Bros, and Mr F. G. Daniels for the two latter. Colyton— Letter asking permission to spond capitation money in sinking a well, or failing that, making application for a tank.— Application referred to Mr Pry, with power to act. Stanway— Ee sale of Stauway village streets. — Mr Beckett moved that the Board withdraw any opposition to closing the streets in Stanway village.— Mr Fry seconded the motion, which was put and carried, Messrs Sanson and Hurley dissenting.—A letter from Mr A. W". Bule asking for 10 per cent reduotion and pay* ment of salary now dne.— .Resolved that the claim be paid. Notice of Motion— Mr Sanson gare notice to more, "That regulation 1, re« garding junior assistants, be struck out and the following be inserted in lifcu thereof, viz., where pupil teachers hare completed their fourth year of training, baring passed the several examinations, that they, if retained in the service of the Board, be classed as junior assistants, and shall be paid according to the following scales; -First year; Males L65 females L 5 5; second year : Males L75 females L 65. ' Leave of absence was granted to Mr A. A. Browne, secretary of the Board, for nine months, for the purpose of his visiting England on urgent prirate business and for the benefit of his health.
