(PER PBESS ASSOCIATION}. Wellington, November 28. An unfortunate accident occurred to a man named Barnes. He stepped off the kerb in Lambton Quay jusc as a cab came bj, and was buried to the ground. The wheel passed over bis right leer, breaking it beneath the knee, and bis bead was also severely injured. Birnes was taken to the hospital, where he is stiii in a critical condition. At Karori, Edward Monaghan was thrown from a horse and so seriously injured that bis life is despaired of. Auckland, Noy ember 28. John Swanoy, the Coroniandel miner who fell off tbe VVaikato train, died at the hospital of his injuries,
