Mr Matthew Henry reports : — A small muster of both clases came forward yesterday, and with a fair attend, ance most of the penned were sold satis* factorily at the following quotations :— Cattle— Forward cows, £4 9s to L 4 13s ; 18-months steers to L 2 14s ; milch cows to Lo. Sheep— Forward wethers, 9s 9d ; fat ewos, 8s 2d ; shorn hoggets, 7s 7d. Messrs Abraham and Williams report yesterday at Palmerston :— We had a full entry of store cattle. A total clear* ance was effected to a brisk demand at somewhat increased rates.lwith, however, the exception of beef, which receded in value 10s per head, even then a portion returned unsold. Sheep below require ments sold freely throughout. An up* ward tendency generally prevailed ; shorn noggets in particular advanced in price. We might mention in passing that our new cattle yard proved thoroughly efficient and our thanks are due to the architect, Mr West, for the aid and attention bestowed upon all the details concerning their construction, and to Mr Watts and his assistants for the well and faithful manner in erecting the same. Cattle— Prime fat bullocks. L 7 15s 6d ; fat cows, Ll 15s 6d ; 2 to 2i-year steers, L 4 4s 6d to L 4 8s 6d ; 18-months steers, L 3 lis 6d toL3 14s 6d ; others, L 2 18s lo L 3; empty cows L 4 ls ; do, and springing to calf, L 4 os to L 4 7s ; weaners 32s Gd to 46s Cd. Sbeep— Wether hoggets, shorn, 7s lid to 9s ; empty ewes in wool, 9s to 93 6d ; shorn do, 5s 9d ; fat ewes shorn. 8s to 8s 6d ewes and lambs, 10s 2d to lis 6d, and all counted, 5s lOd. Messrs Gorton and Son's stock report—Onr last two stock sales at Feilding and Awahuri were well attended, full entries came forward and nearly everything was sold at satisfactory prices, Our quotations are :— Cattle. I Feildmg— Fat cows, L 5 7 ; fat bullocks, L 5 3s ,* heifers in calf, L 4 12s to L 5 3s ; forward cows, L 3 12s. Awahuri —Fat cows, L 4 17s to L 6 6s ; 3 -year bullocks, L 4 to L 4 17s 6cf ; 2£ to 3-year steers, L 4 lis ; milkers, L 4 to L 5 10s ; store cows, L 3 7s 6d ; yearlings mixed, L 2 10s to L 2 10s 6d ; year steers, L 2 ; weaners, 29s Gd. Sheep. Feilding— Ewes with lambs lis 9d to 12s ; wooly wether hoggets, lis 6d to lis lOd ; woolly hoggets mixed, 9s id to 10s 4d. Awahuri— Ewes with lambs, 12s 6d ; shorn 2-tooth wethers, 8s to 8s 2d ; 2tooth mixed, 8s sd ; shorn 2*tooth ewes, 8s 3d ; shorn wethers, 9s sd.
