The Coming Elections
Mr Snelson advertises that he will address tho electors at Apiti on Saturday next. Mr Lethbridge addressed the electors at Upper Tutaenui on Tuesday, and at Rata last evening. At each place he was well received. In our advertising columns Mr J. P. Leary gives an emphatic cotradiction to a rumour to tho effect that he intends to retire from the contest for the Palmerston seat. Mr Lethbridge speaks at Crabb's store, Waituna, at 8 this evening; Mr Stevens at Cheltenham Schoolhouse at 8 ; Mr Pirani at Mr Richards' woolshed, Coal Creek ; Mr Leary at Mr Pollock's woolshed, Harbor Board Block ; and Mr Snelson at the Upper Taonni Schoolhouse. (PKB PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, November 22. At a further meeting of publicans, and those interested in the trade, this afternoon, H. B. Yogel was selected as the third candidate in their interest. Auckland, November 22. Sir George Grey addressed a large meeting at the City Hall to-night. A great many ladies were present. The following resolution was unanimously passed : — ". That this meeting of Auckland electors desires to record its deep gratitude to Sir George Grey for all the benefits which he has conferred upon New Zea« land, and upon Auckland in particular ; that we acknowledge with thankfulness tho splendours of his noble life, and rejoice that we have another opportunity of electing him to represent the city of Auckland at the coining election." Gohe, November 22. The Premier addressed a crowded meeting at the Town Hall to-night. A vote of confidence in the Premier ami his Government was carried unanimously. Mr Seddon left at midnight by special train for Dunedin. Dcnedin, November 22. Mr D. Nicoll, a candidate for the City, attempted to address the electors at the City Hall tonight, but he had again to give way to tho disorder. Over-ripe eggs wcro rather frequent, and when the supply was exhausted several iron bolts wore thrown. The meeting broke up in wild confusion. Mastebton, Novomber 22. Last night Mr Hogg addressed the largest political meeting over held here. A vote of thanks and confidence was given him.
