The following cable message from London, dated I7th., has been receiyed by tho New Zealand Land Association : — Frozen meat.— New Zealand mutton— Tho market bas beon higher since we last telegraphed, but has declined Jd per lb. A correspondent writing to tbe Wellington Times gravely proposes " That at the general elections for the House of Re> prescntatives every resident in the colony irrespective of age, barring criminals only should be represented by a vote ; and that in the case of minors and lunatics their electoral rights should be exercised by thoir natural or appointed guardian." The quostion naturally suggests itself is the writer tho guardian of a lunatic ; if not his suggestion is worthy of one. The lonic, says a London correspondent, has been taken off the running and is to be entirely reconstructed. She has gone round to Belfast to Messrs Harland and Wolff. About seven years ago a horso, belonging to Mrs Cooper, of Terrace End, was stolen and after passing through several hands eventually found its way into the possession of a Mr Henderson, of Wellington, who, of course, like other.*, had bought tho horse in ail good faith. The horse was discovored a short time ago by its rightful owner, Mrs Cooper, and the result was an action for its recovery. Judgment went against Mr Henderson, who is now in tho unfortunalo position of having to pay for tho horsq twice over or givo up possession of it, Cau tho culprit be found. " Mon aro deceivers ovor." So thought —not a young lady this timo— but tho worthy proprietor of a buttor factory in this district rocontly. Amongst other customors ono roan had been sending in regularly, for somo timo, a certatu quantity of milk, say 40 gallons. On tho milk being tostcd ono morning this particular porson's was found to be anything but up to tho standard quality, so ho was at once informed by lottnr that ho could stop supplies. This brought tho dairy farmor down who proceeded to explain to tho manager that unfortunately his wife (who had boen washing the cans) left a quantity of water in them, unknowu to himsolf, and ho filled them with milk, which accounted for it boing poor on that morning.
