MR LETHBRIDGE AT MARTON.
, « . I The speech delivered by Mr F, Y. Lethbridge nt Marton on Friday conp , tained much the same matter as that . reported by us in his Feilding speech. A section of the olectors there did not, ; however, treat tho candidate very * courteously, nnd in the courso of his speech, we learn from the Advocate, 1 "barracking" and unfair intorrup- '. tions wore indulged in. An organised 1 attempt was made by a " bitterly liberal" section of the audience t,> non plus und break him down by means of a running fire of interjections and contradictions ; but thoy ■ failed in thoir purposo. His imperturbable good humour, and the manner in which he stated his views under such adverse, not to say cow--1 ardly, treatment, were sufficient to show ho will mako an excellent member. The treatment meted out by tho Marton people to Mr Leth- ' bridge is in marked contrast to that i" accorded by tho Feilding electors to 1 Mr Stevens, and very discreditable to ■ tho former.
