Opening of the Reichstag
THE KAISER WANTS TO INCREASE HIS ARMY. 5,000,000 MOEE TAXATION PROPOSED. (PEB PEKSS ASSOCIATION.) Berlin, November lfi. Count von Capri vi intends to submit to the Reichstag proposals for the imposition of new taxation amounting to five millions sterling. The Emperor, in opening the Reichstag, asked that provision be made for the increasing strength of the army, and that legislation be introduced for reforming the financial relations existing between the Empire and its branches. He announced that the duty on tobacco, wine, and stamps would be increased, and gave a promise that steps would be taken to check any further epidemic of cholera which may arise. The relations between Germany and other nations were, he said, of a most cordial nature _______ mtmmm^__
