Auckland, November 13. At the inquest at Mercer on Dean, a platelayer, who was killed by the goods train while riding on a jigger eight miles above Mercer. The evidence of the train officials showed the accident occurred at a sharp curve. It was raining heavily and smoke was blowing in front of the engine which made it difficult to see ahead. A verdict that death was accidontly, and no blame was attachable to the engineer was found. The cause of death was concussion of the brain.
