Wellington, November 13. The Hessian fly has again made its appearance among the wheat crops in the Master ton district. - The entries for the A. and P. Show on Wednesday and Thursday number about 1000. At the City Council meeting to night a committee was appointed to confer with the City solicitor with regard to framing a by-law for the suppression of the houses of ill- fame, situated within the city and for the punish* ment of owners and agents who let houses within the city for immoral pur* poses. Auckland, November 13. At the inquest at Mercer on Dean, a platelayer, who was killed by the goods train while riding on a jigger eight miles above Mercer. The evidence of the train officials showed the accident occurred at a sharp curve. It was raining heavily and smoke was blowing in front of the engine which made it difficult to see ahead. A verdict that death was accidontly, and no blame was attachable to the engineer was found. The cause of death was concussion of the brain.
