The Land and Lonn Company of New Zealand has declared a dividend of 4 per cent and carried forward £3000. Madame Melba, who has been singing at Stockholm, has been decorated by the King. Heavy gales have been experienced on the Atlantic. The steamer Etraria felt the full force of the weather, and for some time was in a perilous position. Portions of her deck were torn up by tbe force of the waves. The steamer John Williiins, which was built to tbe order of the London Missionary Society for tbe South Sea Islands, has been launched. She is to cost L 17.000. Pabis, November 13. News has been received that the Hill tribes near Tonquin, in China, have re" volted, and the French garrison is begged. Inconsequence of the outbreak the railway and roadworks have been abandoned. Vibhna, November 13. The Prince de Windisch Gratz, who succeeds Count Taafe, has formed a now Ministry. The Emperor Francis has warmly thanked Counte Taafe for his long services to the nation. Rio de Janeiro, November 13. Admiral Mello declares his intention of restoring tbe monarchy in Brazil. Calcutta, November 13. Owing to the state of mm it which ia prevalent in certain districts, |the Viceroy has determined to prevent the renewal of religions riots, and to protect the Hindoo and Moslem tites. The Marquis of Lansdowne is visiting Burmah to delimit the British sphere of influence there, witli the view of preventing further encroachment on the pari of the Chinese and French. Berlin. November 13. A Court of Honor is trying several officers who are charged with being concerned in the recent gambliug 6candals. If the allegations are sustained, they will be summarily dismissed from the Army.
