The Coming Elections
Mr J. P. Leary addressed the electors at Ashust on Saturday night. At the conclusion of his address be said he would not ask for a vote of confidence— tho best way to show their confidence 111 him would be at the ballot box. He received a vote of thanks.

Wellington*, November 4 In a published address, Mr H. D. Bell candidate for the city, declares himself an opponent of ihe present Government though not an opponent of the principle of many of their policy measure?. He supports the present system of cra'lu* alcd land lax and income t;ix, and the direct veto, also (lie sta'utory hiilMioliday for shop assistants, is opposed to Ihe revival of political control of railways, but sees little objection to (lie addition of a Minister on the Board of Commissioners ; also opposes the alteration oF ihe Education Act. ' He approves of tho purchase of land for settlement at a just valuation.
