Wednesday's Post says : — A ceremony which received a good deal of attention from the fair sex was performed in St Peter's Church this afternoon whon Mr Walter Haybittlo, a member of the firm of E. H. Little and Co., auctioneers, and a prominent figure in musical circles, was married to Miss Amy Begg, daughter of the late Mr Alex. Begg, of Dunedin. The Manchester Rifles held a very successful parade last night. Captain Kirton and Lieutenant Burlace in command. After the corps had been inspected Lieutenant Burlaoo, Color-Sergeant Milson, Sergeants Aitkon, Saywell and Gould exercised the men in the manual aud firing exercises. The last were gone through remarkably well. A meeting of the shooting committee will be held at Mr Bastings Hotel on Tuesday next at 7.30 p.m. Now that the divisions on the Home Rule Bill have come to an end it is interesting to take a retrospect of the time and trouble the House has taken upon it. Id the Committee stage, from May 8 to August 25, there were 192 divisions, and of these sixteen were considered to be of sufficient importance for over COO members to be present at them ; and in no fewer than ninety- five between 500 and 600 took part ; at forty-five 400 and 500 voted ; and at thirty-one between 300 and 400 ; while at only five were there Jess than 300. We learn that Mr Mitchell, of the Rungiwahia Hotel, intends enlarging his premisos owing to the increasing traffic in that district, his present accommodation , being insufficient to meet the requirements of the travelling public. A large store and saw mill are also to be erected in that • township and things generally wear a "go ahead" aspect. On Wednesday evening the Rey J. D. Rus^oll, who has succeeded the Rev Inncs Jones as pastor of the parochial district of Bulls, was formally introduced So his congregation in that town.
