The Unemployed Difficulty

—♦— (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION!. Chhistchubch, November 1. Regarding a telegram from Invercargill that eleven of the men engaged in bash work had thrown up their employment, the Minister for Labor does not consider it likely the wages were insufficient, seeing nearly half the men stuck to the work and made no complaint whatever. Besides, no less than 51 men are working in the district for the Government on the same terms. The Labour Bureau agents have been instructed to offer to take the men back to work on the understanding that the scale of pay be inquired into, and if after a few weeks' trial it is found even men ignor* •nt of the work cannot make fair wages, their scale be raised to enable them to do so. On no consideration will the pas* ssges of the men be paid back.
