The Milton Salvation Case

(per prkss association). Dunedin, Noyember 1 . At Milton to-day, before Mr Hawkins, R.M., and Mr Brown, J. P., Colonel Bailey and Major Robinson, of the Salvation Army, were fined 2s 6d. with 12s costs, for a breach of the Milton byelaw. It was pointed out tbat several prosecutions had previously taken place, and the- law would oe brought into contempt if persons from Christchurch and other places were allowed to wilfully break the bye-law they had failed to set aside. Colonel Bailey asked the Magistrate to fix an alternative as he had con. scientiouß objections to paying the fine. The R.M. said such conduct was silly and ridiculous. The alternative would be seven days, imprisonment. Both defendants go to gaol.
