The Napier Poisoning Case.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION). Napier, October 31. Particulars to hand of the poisoning case at Te Apiti show that on Wednesday morning several persons partook of porridge at breakfast. Shortly afterwards they were seized with great pain and' at* tacks of vomiting more or less severe. The cook, who was amongst the sufferers, states that he took a lump of what he imagined to be salt from a basin in which salt was usually kept, and breaking it in two, placed a piece in each of two sauce' pans he was using for the preparation of the neai. He now feels convinced that it must hare been some other substance, but that is difficult to prove, as the boy who was employed in the kitchen threw what remained in the basin on to the fire to prevent others being similarly attacked, the cook being too ill to attend to what the boy was doiog. All who partook of the porridge hay» now thoroughly recovered.
