The Hon W. P. Reeves at Christchurch

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CiißisTcnußcii, October 30. The Hon W. P. Reeves addressed the Christchurch electors in the Tuam street Hall last evening. He dealt at length with the work of last session, and spoke hopefully of the future. The meeting was one of the largest ever seen in Cliristchurch, both the prohibitionists aod the friends of tho candidate having mustered in full force, expecting an encountor. There was a good deal of interruption and cheering and counter-cheering, especially during the questions. The Hev Mr Isitt, who appeared on tho platform to ask a question, was saluted by prolonged hooting, whereupon his friends retaliated bv groaning at Mr Reeyes when ho answered A vote of (hanks and confidence was met by an amendmont condemning the Government Liquor Bill, amid great howling and cheering. Finally, the amendment was negatiyed by a heavy majority, and the motion of thanks and confidence carried amid a big demonstration by the Minister's frieuds. who were jubilant at their triumph in a fight which has been looked forward to for some little time. The meeting was, on the whole, oue of the liveliest held hero.
