(PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Acckland, October 28. Professor Pond died nt the early age of 29, of Bright's disease. His death it greatly regretted. A girl named yonng is supposed to be drowned at Cambridge. Her hat and footmarks were tracod on the banks of the Wmkato above the whirlpool, Cambridge. The girl, who has lately been attending the Salvation Army, has resided in Cam* bridge for only about three months. She manifested signs of beingslightly deranged, and talked of committing suicide. Owing to the protest of the Auckland Survey Club, the Chief Surveyor in Auckland has been instructed not to eucouragc the practice of furnishing map tracing boundaries, &c , to local bodies.
