MELBOURNE NOTES. (HER I'RKSS ASSOCIATION'). Melhoubne, October 27. At Flomington Loyalty and Launceston ran a mile and a half in 'imin 47sec. At Caulfield Sternchaser beat Oxide over two miles in 3min 48sec Ponnamu and Bessie McCarthy went a mile and a half Gingham, Towri, Blades, Bel Giorno, and Wolf are scratched for the Melbourne Cup. Mr Gollan's two year-old filly by Nordenfeldt — Florence McCarthy and colt by St George — Fair Nell arrived by the Waihora, and were landed without a scratch. Sailor Prince is favourite for the Derby at 100 to 16, Carnage and Trenchant being next in demand at 100 to 12 ; 200 to 26 has been taken about Patron . Loyalty ia favourite for the Melbourne Cup at 100 to 9. A wager of 500 to 37 i has been taken about Tim Swiveller. A.R.C. SECOND SPRING MEETING. Auckland, October 27.
