[FBOM OTTft OWN OUSKKSFONDBKT.3 >Vitbin the past ten days we have received two visits from Mr F. T. Leth. bridge the Opposition candidate for the ftangitikei electorate, who is quietly pushing his candidature ahead by a personal canvass. The anniversary services of the Wesley an Chapel were held here last Sunday, the Rev G. Clement, of FeUding, officiated. Owing however to the incessant downpour of rain the attendance was somewhat small. The sawmill owned by Messrs Lowes and Jarvis, situated about two and a half miles from the township, is now in full swing, and is replete with machinery of the best type, the breaking down saw and planing machine being of the latest design. The owners besides possessing a considerable area of land covered with timber of all kinds, have lately completed negotiations for the purchase of a further area of 120 acres of bush land. The principal timbers used are rimu, white pine, matai, main, etc., but the first named is perhaps the best of its kind in the colony, and from the sample seen is among other things admirably adapted for cabinetmakers' purposes. The work turned out by the firm which is of every description, is second to none in the colony, and should prove a great boon to the settlers in the district. The mill although in its infancy, employs constantly eight hands, and as a local industry deserves every encouragement at the hands of the settlers. ,
