It is reported that \l r Sexton is about to resign and be appointed a Commissioner of Education Mr Hogan, MP., in an Article in the Contemporary Review, urges that the colonies must federate before they can secure representation in the House of Commons. The newly formed Colonial Party is meanwhile developing into a nonofficial committee of the Lords and Commons. Six hundred delegates Attended the UUter Parliament, representing one hundred and seventy thousand enrolled. A Unionist committee of forty was elected to watch the interests of the Ulster party, and to formulate a policy The Duke of Abercorn was elected president. The Finapcial Times states that the Taluation of the assets of the Bank of South Australia, in liquidation, has been completed, and a meeting of the shareholders convened for now It is rumoured that a call of LlO per share will be required to meet the deficit. Washington, October 24. The Republican Senators have refused the proffered compromise on the silver question, declaring the proposal to be o cowardly makeshift. | The Democrat silver men in the Senate have consented to the question going to the vote in a week. Pabih, October 21. At a mooting between the President and the Russian Admiral, the former said the visit of the Russians would leave perpetual memories, and hopes for mutual friendship. Admiral Avtlon said the universal prayer in Russia would be for the prosperity of France. The clitnnx of the reception to the Rus sians were reached last night, when the visitors were entertained in the Opera House. Madame Mellm was among the singers. Kosir, October 24.
