(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, October 21. Sir Robert Stout addressed a large meeting of ladies in the Opera House this afternoon, Mrs Flimmer being in the clniir. The address was on politics generally, his reicarks being in the direction of educating women in regard to the new duties the franchise had imposed upon them. The meeting accorded Sir Robert a vote of thanks and confidence. Auckland, October 24. It is stated that Mr Muir, member of the Auckland Board of Education, will contest Mannkau. The Liberal Association have adopted a platform in a series of categorical questions to be put to candidates. These have been sent to candidates for reply. The Association meet on Monday next to select candidates for the city And suburbs. Invehcargill, October 24. Mr Joseph Hatch, a former member for Invercnrgill, will contest the seat at the general election. Mr G. W. Brodenck, solicitor, is also out, his published address being extremely Liberal. CnHisTCHURCH, October 24. Mr J. Evison announces himself as a candidate for Christchurch. Mr Meredith, who is a candidate for Ashley, addressed a meeting at Ashley, on Monday night, announcing himself a strong supporter of the Government. He received a vote of thanks and confidence. Mr Budda, the Liberal candidate for Kaiapoi, addressed bis first meeting on Monday night, and received a vote of thanks. At Mr Roller ton's meeting at Little River on Monday night, a motion of confidence in the candidate was lost, one of confidence in the Government being carried by a sweeping majority.
