Ashbubton, This Day. L. M. Isitt's week's prohibition campaign closed last night with one of the largest crowds over seen in one building here. It was a most enthusinntic meet" ing, and a resolution pledging the meeting to support the direct veto candidate was carried by an overwhelming majority. The Diocesan Synod was opened today. Bishop Julius, in his address, dealt at some length with Church work during the past year. He spoke wilh approval of the efforts now being made to introduce a religious text book into the State school*.
