Interesting to Sheep Farmers
The following is an extract from the Midland Counties Herald, of 24th August, 1893, the most important and influential agricultural journal published in Birmingham and circulated in the Midland Counties of England : —A Prolific Ewe.— -The following particulars of the prolificacy of a Dorset horned ewe have been contributed to the Live Stock Journal by Mr A. S. Gibson, Estute Office, Euddington, Notts:— "The following, if not a record, ia surely worthy of notice. A Torset horned ewe on this estate produced on 2nd January last four healthy lambs, three of which she reared. The remaining one was put to a ewe that had a siugle only, and was reared. These four lambs sold fat at £2 each. The same ewe had four more healthy lambs on the 6th inst , throe of which she is rearing. The fourth is, as before, given to another ewe. All are doing well. The lambs were sired by a Shropshire ram. This makes eight lambs in seven months. Has this been beaten ?"
