| MEASLES AT SYDNEY. ; 200 DEATHS FROM THE DISEASE. (PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION). Brisbane, October 13. : In the Legislative Assembly the Su^ar , Bill, providing for assistance to establish central mills, met with strong opposition from the Labor Party, who do-ared to prevent any coloured labour being em--1 ployed at such mills. > A stonewall began yesterday, and con--1 tmued until to-night. Two or thrre of ' the speeches were over eight hours in 1 length. Sir Thomas Mcllwraith assured the ' House that the Government never con- - templated the employment of Chinese or Cingalese at the mills, and that Kanaka 1 labour would only bo employed where white men were unable to work. The . Labour leaders accepted this assurance, t and offered no further opposition to the [ Bill, which passed through committee. This Daj.
