Good Templars' Social
« The Feilding branch of the 1.0. G.T. Lodge held a tea in the Foresters' Hall last evening. The attendance was fair, including visitors from Pal merston. Tables were provided by Misses Curtis (2), Poad (*J), Simpson (2), ami Groves. The after meeting was presided over by Mr Head, of tSuudon, who gavo ;i short opening address, and the following programme was gone through : — Recitation, "The Triumphs of the English Nation," Mr Sherlock ; song, " Baby Mine," Mr Mackenzie ; recitation, " People Will Talk," Miss F. Barrett ; recitation, " The Two Glasses," Miss Ralph; song, " Apart," Miss E. Poad ; song, " Be Kind to your Mother," Mr Burrows ; recitation, " The Husband's Vow," Miss Whisker. The Rev. Mr Ellis, of Palmerston, addressed those present, and Mr Rush, also of Palmerston, caused considerable amusement by his lecture on phrenology, illustrating his remarks by reading the bumps of four volunteers from the audience.
